God is the owner

God is the owner of this world. We acknowledge it. David confessed that everything belongs to God (1 Chronicles 29: 10-14). When it comes to possessions we have thinking that we own it and give God a portion. This attitude is wrong. Many times we think that tithe is all what God gets, and tithing is His money. We, who are living in the New Testament age, enjoy God’s abundant grace and our giving is dependent on grace.

The way we handle money and what we do with it determines our attitude towards God. We hoard up money as security. We build palatial houses for our comfort. We conduct marriages to show the magnitude of our wealth. We spend on visiting places to enjoy our vacation. God has given us comforts to enjoy, but we are just stewards of His possessions. He has given us these things to manage them. Are we being faithful? (1 Corinthians 4:2)

When Christ returns, we will leave the money we have hoarded, the house we have built, in this world. Only what we have credited in heaven will remain(Mathew 6: 19-20) and when we stand before Christ to give an account, we must tell him how we have managed His wealth. Did we use the possessions to bring glory to Him or did we bring Him shame?

God made the greatest and costly sacrifice for lost man. He gave His only begotten Son (John 3:16). For God to give His Son is a decision that has resulted in the salvation for man. A sinless Savior dying for a sinner. The sacrifice that God made tells of His great love for man. God loved the world, to send His Son to die for man. Doesn’t that prompt us, who are saved by grace to show our love to Him. How can we show love to Him?

The way God expects to show love to Him is by offering Him the first position in every area of our lives. To the church in Ephesus, he tells them that they have lost the first love (Revelation 2:4). God having pre-eminent position in our lives reflects in our lifestyle. There would problems at home, work place, children and people. Commitments are always there. These must not hinder us to give God the priority in our lives. Our health will fail, money will not be enough, but these must not be a stumbling block for us to express our love to Him.

No sacrifice will match the cost that He made, He sent His own, precious Son to die for us. We can and must always seek ways to show Him our unflinching love.

John makes a profound statement that the Word became flesh and dwelt amongst us (John 1:14).This is greatest fact and truth, that the God of this universe, dwelt among men. Jesus came in human flesh, but He was still God. He was living among men. What a privilege for people living two thousand years ago, they got to see and feel God.

Mary conceived of the Holy Spirit, bore God in her womb (Luke 1:35), Simeon took God in his hands (Luke 2:28), the people touched God and were healed (Mathew 14:36), the disciples have looked and handled God (1 John 1:1). What a privilege that people in those days had. They had God amongst them.

We too have Jesus living in our hearts, the Holy Spirit taking abode in our hearts, in other words, God living in our hearts. We might not literally see or touch God, but can feel His awesome presence guiding us. He is with us.
