A Servant Leader -2

When we have dedicated leaders in the Church there will not be spiritual starvation and lack of spiritual maturity among God’s children. The word of God is very specific on the character of a leader who leads God’s people. There are few more qualities that we will discuss in this article:

Support the weak: A congregation is a mix of strong and weak flocks. There is always a tendency to consider and give responsibilities to the talented and gifted while ignoring the weak. Jesus gave more attention to the weak to make them strong. A leader must consider and encourage the weak. Apostle Paul says “Accept the one who is weak in faith”. Romans 14:1.

Impartial: A leader should not keep favoritism in the Church. It is a human tendency to support those whom you like even though they are wrong. A leader must stand for the truth and be impartial towards any issues. Our Lord is impartial and shows no favoritism. (1Peter 1:17, Romans 2:11). A Servant Leader

It is hard to find a leader who has the qualities the word of God describes. Most of the leaders act as executives who has the final call for decision making, control and lead the flock with their impressive words and actions. What are the qualities of a leader according to the Bible? 

Be an example. A leader is examined and looked upon by the followers and flocks; hence the attitude and the behavior of a leader must be up to the standards given in the scripture.Set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity”. 1 Timothy 4:12.

Be humble. A leader must be always humble as he takes care of the needs of the flocks. Proud and arrogant words should not proceed from a leader. He must be willing to do anything and everything for the needy. Jesus said For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many”.
